Recently in an interview with the London Times, James Gunn talked about his plans for the Suicide Squad in the upcoming sequel to"Guardians of the Galaxy." The manager said the following:
"We really enjoy these figures will die in this movie, it is nothing like the last one where they needed to keep going back and forth between the good guys and the bad guys. These people will die in this movie."
Though I don't know what the programs are for the figures we'll meet later on, but there is no doubt the group of villains is going to be getting the axe. With that said, I am convinced a number of the characters from the film will endure. For instance, the Red Skull has ever been a favorite villain to see from the comic books and films, so you can probably expect him to return in some shape or fashion.
Although the Red Skull might not be one of the chief characters in the movie, he's the one most desired by the villains. Additionally, the reason behind the Suicide Squad would be to get a different team which may be used in major offense battles, so it will make sense that he will still be around at some stage later on. In case you haven't read the comics, then there is plenty of examples of how he's murdered his group members over the years.
In addition to the Red Skull, additional members of this group like the Chess household will also reunite, and it appears like Riddler are also around. They should be a big part of the next movie, as we observe how much more complex the team has become as the first film.
In the meeting, Gunn was very vague about who else would be returning, but it looks like at least one big character is going to be a part of the next film. They can keep the original team together and that the villains are going to have more inspiration to cause issues for the good men in the upcoming film.
The first team is going to have a very intense reunion since they get together to undertake the newest bad guy in the film, as well as some new faces that were introduced in the comic books. It is interesting to see if these new personalities will make a difference and bring some balance to the group, or if the same old faces will remain the same.
Although the interview didn't mention any of the more recent villains, I am sure that there will be some in the film as well. The Joker, for example, will likely make an appearance again. Or two.
Actually, Gunn reported that they're going to present about a few new characters that we will not comprehend as the new bad guys in the film. Even though it seems like we will not find out much about these characters for some time, it does look like we'll at least find out more about the villain in this film.
