Recently in an interview with the London Times, James Gunn talked about his plans for the Suicide Squad in the upcoming sequel to"Guardians of the Galaxy." The director said the following:
"We really enjoy these figures are going to die in this film, it is nothing like the previous one where they needed to keep going back and forth between the good guys and the bad guys. These people will perish in this movie."
Although I do not understand what the plans are for the figures we will meet later on, but there's no doubt the group of villains will be getting the axe. With that being said, I am sure a number of the characters from the film will survive. For instance, the Red Skull has ever been a favorite villain to see in the comic books and movies, so that you can probably expect him to return in some shape or fashion.
Though the Red Skull might not be one of the main characters in the film, he's the one most wanted by the villains. Additionally, the main reason for the Suicide Squad is to get a different team that can be utilized in major offense battles, so it will make sense that he will still be around at some stage later on. In case you haven't read the comics, there is loads of examples of how he's murdered his group members through recent years.
In addition to this Red Skull, additional members of this group such as the Chess family will even reunite, and it appears like Riddler will also be around. They ought to be a big part of the next movie, as we observe just how much more complex the group has become as the first film.
From the interview, Gunn was very vague about who would be returning, but it looks like at least one major character is going to be part of the next movie. Hopefully they can keep the first team together and that the villains will have more inspiration to cause problems for the great men in the upcoming film.
The first team will have an extremely intense reunion as they get together to take on the newest bad guy in the movie, in addition to some new faces that were introduced in the comic books. It's interesting to see if these new personalities will make a difference and bring some balance to the team, or when the same old faces will stay the same.
Although the interview did not mention any of the newer villains, I'm certain that there will be a few in the movie too. The Joker, for example, will likely make an appearance . Or even two.
In fact, Gunn said that they are going to introduce about a few new characters that we won't comprehend since the new bad guys in the film. Although it seems like we won't find out much about these characters for some time, it does seem like we will at least find more information about the protagonist in this movie.
